Rico Abreu Scores $8,000 In All Star Circuit Of Champions Visit To Knoxville Raceway

From Tyler Altmeyer / allstarsprint.com

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 30, 2022) - For the first time this season, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu is a Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner, doing so in fantastic fashion at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. Abreu’s victory, resulting in an $8,000 payday, commenced from the outside of row four, securing the top spot on lap 21 with an epic slider in turn three to move around “Sunshine” Tyler Courtney and race long leader, Kerry Madsen.

Despite a last-ditch effort by the “Madman,” attempting a slider in the final corner of the 25-lap affair, Madsen was forced to settle for second, followed by Courtney, Gio Scelzi, and Brian Brown.

There were 55 cars on hand for the All Stars’ lone visit to Knoxville Raceway.

“It feels great to be back at Knoxville Raceway, and especially in Knoxville Raceway victory lane. This place is incredible and we love being here,” Rico Abreu said, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Rowdy Energy/Curb Records/Wiser Agency/Toste Construction/No. 24 sprint car. “To have some momentum like this leading into the Knoxville Nationals is vital. We know what we have to do and we’re excited to give it a go again in two weeks.”

The All Star Circuit of Champions will not return to competition until Friday through Sunday, August 19-21, when the Series visits the Empire State for a three-race swing at Outlaw Speedway, Utica-Rome Speedway, and Weedsport Speedway. The events will award $8,000, $10,000, and $8,000, respectively.
