Steve Johnson Secures Second Victory Of 2021 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Season To Open Playoffs

Johnson finished Sunday at Maple Grove victory with his second victory of the season, rolling to the win in the final round of the Mopar Express Lane NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil with a run of 6.775-seconds at 196.87 mph against Eddie Krawiec, who went 6.870 197.16 mph.


“Clearly you want to be leading the points and it’s great, but what it really boils down to is the process,” Johnson said. “Leading the points is just a dream.”



RPM Round By Round:


Round 1 - Johnson faced James Underdahl and Johnson holds the the 3-2 advantage in previous meetings. Underdahl had the faster reaction time but Johnson simply had the faster bike, making it to the Christmas tree first as well as the finish line running a 6.825 at 197.19 MPH.


Round 2 - Johnson matched up against Scotty Pollacheck in the quarters and continued his Sunday trek for a second Wally in 2021. Both pilots had great launches but it was Johnson who was first to the stripe running a 6.788 at 197.31 MPH.


Round 3 - Event top qualifier Angelle Sampey awaited Johnson in the semi's. This was a competitive matchup but Johnson launched with an advantage at the start and showed some muscle at the finish to edge out Sampey. Johnson ran a 6.804 at 197.22 MPH for the win.


Round 4 - In the final, for the 2nd round in a row Johnson faced the Vance & Hines stable but this time it was Eddie Krawiec. Another competitive drag race with Johnson just edging out Krawiec with a run of 6.775 at 196.87 MPH.
